Biosecurity

We work to prevent serious threats to animal and human health by focusing on unsecured biological materials, improperly maintained laboratories, and inadequately trained technicians.

Biological threats are real and inhabit many forms. Whether it is confronting bioterrorism, improving laboratory safety, or building the capacity of health researchers, we are committed to ensuring that a health threat anywhere does not become a health threat everywhere.

KEY CAPABILITIES

SUPPORTING LOCAL BIOSAFETY ASSOCIATIONS

One of the most important aspects of biosafety is the capacity of local and regional health institutions. We work with local biosafety associations to provide them with the training and support they need to design effective policies that create lasting and sustainable cultures of biosafety.

MAKING LABORATORIES SAFER

Laboratory research is an essential component to understanding infectious diseases. We work to ensure that laboratories around the world are properly equipped and maintained to conduct effective health research and properly secure hazardous biological material.

BUILDING EXPERTISE IN BIOSECURITY

We coordinate and support trainings that educate scientists, policymakers, and first responders on the importance of biosecurity and biosafety. Our work aims to create leaders that can further the cause of biosecurity not only in their home countries, but throughout local regions and the world.
